Asim Sarode grew up in Pune, Maharashtra.
As a child, Asim’s family was involved in many social activities.
His grandfather, Babasaheb Sarode, worked with Indian freedom fighter Vinoba Bhave in the Bhoodan Movement.
Asim Sarode’s father, a Gandhian social worker and his greatest influence established an educational institution called the Sahyog Trust, a non-profit organisation in Pune, Maharashtra.
During his college days, he thought of providing legal guidance and help to the oppressed and poor. He decided to dedicate his life to socio-legal causes.
After completing his law degree, Asim Sarode started his career by providing free legal help to under-trial prisoners at Yerawada Central Prison in Pune, Maharashtra.
He also started providing free legal help to sex workers exploited under the Immoral Trafficking Prevention Act.
In September 1999, Asim Sarode founded Asim Sarode and Associates, a law firm, in Pune, Maharashtra.
He later established the volunteer and student-centred legal wing of the Sahyog Trust.
Asim Sarode is an expert in Criminal, Family, International, Environmental, and Human Rights Laws.
He is the founder of the Human Rights and Law Defenders (HRLD), a law school, in Pune, Maharashtra.
Asim Sarode is the only Indian male advocate to receive the internationally recognized ‘Majlis Fellowship’ for his work on women’s rights.

Asim Sarode was then invited to the Orange County Superior Court in the USA as an expert viewer on Indian laws.
Indian news channel Star News has released a documentary, based on a case where he represented a man wrongfully imprisoned for 11 years, in their program ‘Insaaf ka Taraju.’
The national television channel Pragya has made a documentary film titled ‘Aur Eak Ekalavya’ based on his work.
