He aimed to join the Indian Army but a bike accident resulted in a broken arm, preventing him from pursuing that dream.
After completing his Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, he gained fame for his mimicry of the Thiruvananthapuram accent, which received both praise and criticism.
His first film, "Jagapoka" (2001), was a box office failure, but he later became a Malayalam-language tutor for actor Mammootty and starred alongside him in various successful films.
A breakthrough in Suraj's career came with the film "Thuruppugulan" (2006), where he played the role of Appukuttan.
