Saurav Ghosal is a professional squash player from India who reached 10th in the world rankings in April 2019.
In 2022, he made history by winning India's first singles bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham.
He began playing squash at eight years old and trained at the Kolkata Racquet Club before joining the ICL squash academy in Chennai.
At the academy, he received training from Major (Rtd) Maniam and Cyrus Poncha, and later honed his skills at the Pontefract Squash Club in West Yorkshire under Malcolm Willstrop.
In 2004, Saurav Ghosal became the first Indian to win the Under-19 Squash title at the British Junior Open championships.
His achievements include a bronze medal at the 2006 Asian Games and being honored with the Arjuna Award in 2007.
In 2013, he made history by becoming the first Indian to reach the quarterfinals of the World Squash Championship.
Saurav Ghosal clinched a silver medal in individual singles at the 2014 Asian Games.
In 2018, he was appointed President of the Professional Squash Association (PSA).
In 2022, Saurav Ghosal added another bronze medal to his list of accomplishments at the Commonwealth Games, becoming the first Indian to achieve this in men's squash singles.
