To pursue her passion for classical music, she attended music classes at Gandharva Mahavidyalaya in Delhi for nearly ten years.
In 1982, Rekha began her music training under Guru Pandit Amarnath, whom she considers her 'eternal guru.'
Her Bollywood breakthrough happened with the song 'Namak Ishq Ka' from the film Omkara (2006), directed by her husband.
