Prraneeth Vuppala is the 82nd grandmaster of India and the 6th from Telangana.
He hails from Ilagadapa village in the Nalgonda district of Telangana.
At two and a half years old, he recited Bhagawad Geeta shlokas and showed an interest in drawing.
Introduced to tennis and swimming early in life, he later gravitated towards chess.
Prraneeth received chess training from Ramaraju at the Ramaraju Academy of Chess Education for seven years.
He also trained with Israeli grandmaster Victor Mikhalevski.
Prraneeth achieved victories in State Championships and the National ABACUS Championship.
His tournament participation includes events such as the 4th IIFL Wealth Mumbai Op and the Netanya Open.
In 2023, he triumphed at the Baku Open, defeating GM Hans Niemann.
Prraneeth gained his grandmaster title after reaching 2,500 FIDE rating points.
