Some Lesser Known Facts

Preneet Kaur was born into a Sikh Jat family with a military background.
She became the Maharani of Patiala upon her marriage to Captain Amarinder Singh in 1964.
Before joining politics in 1999, she founded the Sanjeevani institute for differently-abled children.
In August 2019, she fell victim to fraud in Delhi, resulting in the loss of Rs.23 lakh from her account.
She oversaw the inauguration of the Banur Canal System Project in 2019.
To tackle land degradation in Punjab, she initiated the 'Tree-for-Gun' scheme in 2020.
In 2021, she proposed the 'single wire' project to enhance the aesthetics of the power distribution system.
In the same year, she distributed proprietary ownership certificates to residents under the BASERA scheme.
