R. C. Tiwari is a lieutenant general in the Indian Army with an extensive command background.
In December 2023, he was appointed to lead the Eastern Command by the Government of India.
Tiwari underwent military training at the National Defence Academy in Khadakwasla and later at the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun.
He joined the Kumaon Regiment in 1987 as a second lieutenant.
Tiwari completed initial military courses in Belgaum, Karnataka.
He served as a company commander as a major in his battalion.
